SJH-XGD (SJH–想感動) was founded in 2025 by Stefan Heeb as a platform for his research, teaching, consulting, and publishing activities.
The name SJH-XGD consists of the founder’s initials followed by the first letters of the romanized transcription of the three Chinese characters 想 (Xiǎng = thinking), 感 (Gǎn = sensory perception and feeling), and 動 (Dòng = Movement), which are also visually embodied in the logo.
Logo and name draw from movement therapist M. Feldenkrais’ concept that the four dimensions moving, feeling, sensing, and thinking are present to varying degrees of awareness at any given moment and inform every action. The idea is to set out a horizon that extends beyond the founder’s primary focus on “ideas, society, and languages.”
The logo was “calligraphed” by Stefan Heeb in 2019 with a marker pen, while standing, on the back of a sticker that had been placed on his office door without consent.
